Meet Our Trainer

Bay 9 Sporthorses was founded in honor of my heart horse, John. He taught me so much and gave me more than I could ever put into words. After losing him, I wanted to carry his legacy forward in a meaningful way. John sired nine foals, most of them bay in color—so the name Bay 9 is a tribute to both him and the future he helped shape.

I’ve been riding for 32 years, owned horses for 24, and have run my own barn since 2008. For the past 21 years, I’ve taught riders of all levels, with a focus on correct riding, balance, and connection between horse and rider. Since 2005, I’ve trained with and for top international endurance riders, and my competition background spans dressage (through Second Level), western timed events, endurance (including FEI miles), and both English and western pleasure, horsemanship, and showmanship. I recently stepped into the show jumping ring and placed 4th and 6th in my first competition. Competition has always been a part of my life, and the results reflect the work and dedication behind each ride. I’ve earned countless high point and champion ribbons, and my horses consistently bring home top placements. John himself earned 16 champion and 14 reserve titles, including a USDF Reserve Champion title. Fin’s first year saw 7 champion ribbons, 2 out of 3 high point awards, and wins in 8 of 12 classes—including two at his debut show. Frankie rarely placed below first and has at least 3 champion titles. Flame scored a 78 at just 6 months old at his very first show, impressing the judge with his behavior and quality. J.T. brought home champion high point in English, and one of my students Ermolene earned champion high point in western the very same day with J.T.

My students have consistently done well, often earning high point and champion honors themselves—a testament to the thoughtful, balanced approach I teach in every lesson. Bay 9 Sporthorses is more than a barn—it’s a place where riders and horses grow together, learn the value of connection and correctness, and carry the spirit of a horseman who helped build the foundation of everything we do here.
